Job Description

Location: San Francisco and New York

Team: Product & Design

Reports to: CPTO

About Artisan

Artisan is building the next generation of AI-native tools for modern go-to-market teams. We design intelligent systems that automate and accelerate revenue workflows across the entire customer lifecycle. As an early design leader, you’ll shape not only the product, but the culture, processes, and design foundations of the company.

We’re operating in the messy, high-velocity reality of a Series A company: rapid iteration, fast decision-making, no bureaucratic guardrails, and enormous ownership. You will be one of the earliest design leaders and will set the bar for product excellence across the organization.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Staff UX Designer who can operate as a hybrid product strategist, systems thinker, prototyper, and design leader. You will work on complex, multi-layered AI workflows, define interaction models for autonomous agents, and craft intuitive experiences for GTM teams that rely on clarity, speed, and trust.

This role requires deep experience designing for ambiguous problem spaces, driving cross-functional collaboration, and owning UX from discovery to final craft. You will set quality standards, influence product vision, and mentor other designers as the team scales.

What You’ll Do

  • Own end-to-end UX for some of the company’s most strategic AI-powered workflows.

  • Translate ambiguous product opportunities into clear, structured UX strategies and interaction models.

  • Partner tightly with Product, Engineering, and ML teams to define user journeys, prototypes, and system behaviors.

  • Design multi-step flows, data-rich interfaces, and scalable design patterns for complex GTM use cases.

  • Drive user research and usability testing to validate hypotheses and refine product decisions.

  • Develop a coherent design system that can scale as the product expands.

  • Raise the bar for design quality across the organization—both through hands-on craft and mentorship.

  • Help define the long-term product vision and roadmap from a UX-led perspective.

  • Serve as a bridge between near-term execution and long-term strategic thinking.

Who You Are

A Strategic Designer

You think in systems and flows, not just screens. You can turn messy problems into structured plans and communicate design rationale clearly to founders, engineers, and stakeholders.

A Builder at Heart

You thrive in fast-moving environments with limited process and imperfect information. You operate autonomously and unblock yourself without waiting for direction.

A High-Caliber Craftsperson

You care deeply about clarity, precision, and usability. You sweat the details and deliver highly polished work—even in high-speed environments.

A Cross-Functional Partner

You collaborate naturally with PMs, engineers, ML researchers, and leadership. You know how to influence decisions without authority.

Comfortable with AI Product Complexity

You’ve designed for workflows involving automation, decision support, or data-heavy experiences. You understand how to create trustable, transparent, and understandable AI interactions.

What You Bring

  • 7–10+ years of UX/Product Design experience, ideally in fast-growing SaaS or AI-driven products.

  • Demonstrated ability to ship complex end-to-end features in ambiguous environments.

  • Experience designing for B2B tools, dashboards, workflow automation, or enterprise-grade software.

  • Expertise in prototyping (Figma, high-fidelity flows, interactive prototypes).

  • Strong system-design thinking: design systems, interaction patterns, and reusable frameworks.

  • Ability to lead discovery, research, and user validation end-to-end.

  • Experience influencing product strategy through UX insights.

  • Bonus: experience in GTM tech, productivity tools, or AI systems.

  • Bonus: early-stage startup experience (Series A–B).

What Success Looks Like

  • Clear, intuitive user flows that simplify complex GTM operations.

  • A scalable design system used across teams and features.

  • High-quality prototypes that accelerate engineering execution.

  • Strong cross-functional alignment driven through thoughtful UX leadership.

  • Tangible improvements to user efficiency, clarity, and adoption.

Why Join Artisan

  • You’ll own critical parts of the product that shape the future of AI in GTM.

  • You’ll have massive autonomy and impact in a deeply creative, fast-paced environment.

  • You’ll help set the foundations of the design team at a high-growth AI startup.

  • You’ll work closely with founders and top engineering talent on category-defining challenges.
