Our Review
We've been watching WorkOS closely since 2019, and frankly, we're impressed by how they've tackled one of software development's most persistent headaches. If you've ever tried to sell your SaaS product to a Fortune 500 company, you know the drill: "Great demo, but we need SSO, directory sync, audit logs, and compliance certifications before we can even think about signing."
WorkOS essentially says, "We've got you covered" — and they mean it.
What Makes WorkOS Stand Out
Most enterprise API platforms feel like they were built by enterprise architects for enterprise architects. WorkOS flips this script entirely. Their APIs are surprisingly developer-friendly, which shouldn't be revolutionary but somehow still feels refreshing.
We particularly love their approach to Single Sign-On. Instead of wrestling with SAML configurations for weeks (been there, done that), you can have enterprise SSO running in your app within hours. Their Directory Sync feature is equally smooth — no more manually syncing employee lists or dealing with CSV imports that break every other month.
The Numbers Tell a Story
Here's what caught our attention: WorkOS raised $80 million in their Series B at a $525 million valuation. For a company that's barely four years old, that's serious validation. But the real proof is in their customer roster — Vercel, Webflow, and Hopin aren't exactly known for picking subpar tools.
Over 200 fast-growing startups have already jumped on board, which tells us the product-market fit is real.
Who Should Consider WorkOS
If you're a SaaS company eyeing enterprise deals, WorkOS is practically a no-brainer. We'd especially recommend it for startups who've hit that awkward growth stage where enterprise customers are interested, but your engineering team is already stretched thin building core features.
The magic link authentication feature is also a nice touch for companies wanting to reduce password friction without compromising security. It's one of those "why didn't we think of that" solutions that just works.
Our only caveat? If you're still in the early MVP stage, WorkOS might be overkill. But once you're ready to move upmarket, they've built exactly what you'll need.
Single Sign-On (SSO) integration via SAML
Directory Sync with enterprise systems using SCIM
Audit Logging for security compliance
Magic Link Sign-On for passwordless authentication
