Job Description

Our Mission:

At Sunrise Robotics, we are dedicated to augmenting humanity through intelligent robotics. Our mission is to elevate the world of manufacturing by introducing intelligent, flexible robots that enhance human capabilities and existing machinery, ushering in the next era of production at higher quality, with less waste, and lower cost.

Our Vision:

We see a future where every element of manufacturing, from design to assembly, is optimised with intelligent automation. Our vision is to integrate flexible robotic solutions, based on generic hardware and advanced software/AI capabilities, into manufacturing, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises, to make automation economically viable and accessible, for all sizes of manufacturers. We are not just building robots; we are creating the strategically crucial components for autonomous, intelligent agents of the future.

The Role:

As a Robotics Software Engineer you have a key role in developing and designing every part of our flexible industrial process automation system. This system adapts to handle different industrial processes requiring elements such as multi-robot collaboration, machine vision, advanced robotics manipulation and motion planning and control. You will work across the full-stack from application logic to motion planning.

You will collaborate with other teams, such as the simulation team and the AI team, to ensure every new development is seamlessly integrated in the system. You will leverage simulation for development and you will collaborate in reducing the sim2real gap in our system. Your work will have a direct impact on a real world application as you will contribute directly to our production systems.

What you will do:

  • Perform research and development in the following areas:

    • Design and develop reusable, production-quality robot behaviours to execute different industrial processes autonomously working across the full stack.

    • Perform software integration to include other components and produce and maintain a fully working system.

    • Enhance the robustness of our stack to guarantee continuos operations reducing the downtime.

    • Contribute in reducing the simulation-to-reality gap developing solutions that can be run in simulation and on the real robot.

    • Contribute to scaling our robots across multiple sites and different industries.

    • Provide your input on the hardware that needs to installed to provide optimal results, working closely with mechanical engineers.

    • Contribute to develop, with the robotics team, a production robotics system deployed in the field at the customer sites.

  • Work with the engineering teams to collaboratively transform research insights and latest developments into practical, deployable solutions.

Who you are:

  • Demonstrable experience in developing production-quality software deployed on a physical system, able of working across the full stack

  • Knowledgable of key robotics concepts, such as kinematics and motion planning algorithms, experience developing robotic manipulation software

  • Experience integrating complex systems in a coherent working whole

  • Excellent software development skills in python and in developing object oriented code

  • Knowledgeable of ROS2 or similar robotics frameworks and acquainted to using robotics simulation environments

  • Extensive experience using state of the art software development tools and practices (eg Git, code reviews etc)

  • Master’s degree in robotics, computer science, software engineering or similar fields or equivalent working experience

  • Collaborative team player, comfortable to work remotely and proactive communicator

  • Readiness to participate in on-site bring-up or troubleshooting when required, keen to collaborate with deploy and operational support specialists to ensure system stability

  • Based in one of the three European time zones (West, Central or Eastern European) and able to travel in the Schengen area (eg holder of Schengen VISA, British, Swiss or Norwegian national, etc.)

Bonus points:

  • Experience developing and deploying robotic systems in the field

  • Experience working on ABB robotic arms

  • Experience in Nvidia Omniverse and/or Isaac Sim

  • Knowledgeable of docker and common CI/CD tools

Why Sunrise Robotics?

  • Play a pivotal role in defining the future of intelligent robotics and manufacturing.

  • Be part of a company that is at the forefront of technological innovation, with a clear mission and vision.

  • Competitive compensation, including equity, and a flexible work environment that values innovation, learning, and excellence.
