Job Description

Our Mission:

At Sunrise Robotics, we are dedicated to augmenting humanity through intelligent robotics. Our mission is to elevate the world of manufacturing by introducing intelligent, flexible robots that enhance human capabilities and existing machinery, ushering in the next era of production at higher quality, with less waste, and lower cost.

Our Vision:

We see a future where every element of manufacturing, from design to assembly, is optimised with intelligent automation. Our vision is to integrate flexible robotic solutions, based on generic hardware and advanced software/AI capabilities, into manufacturing, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises, to make automation economically viable and accessible, for all sizes of manufacturers. We are not just building robots; we are creating the strategically crucial components for autonomous, intelligent agents of the future.

The Role:

As a Robotics Manipulation Engineer you will have a key role in designing and implementing state-of-the-art and beyond grasping and manipulation capabilities for our robots.

You will work at the intersection of control systems, computer vision, and machine learning, selecting and integrating the most appropriate techniques—analytic, data-driven, or hybrid—to achieve robust and generalisable grasping performance across a variety of industrial processes. You will also contribute to the rest of our robotics stack and you will have a say on which hardware is more appropriate to successfully accomplish the task.

Your work will have a direct impact on robots deployed in the field leaving a true mark on real world applications of our technology. You will validate your methods on simulation and on the real robot.

What you will do:

Perform research and development in the following areas:

  • Identify and implement the most appropriate robotic grasping techniques (analytic, learning-based, or hybrid) for each application from inception to production.

  • Develop production-ready code for our robot, working across the stack, ensuring robustness, scalability, and maintainability in real world conditions.

  • Integrate multiple system components—including perception, control, motion planning, and hardware interfaces—into a cohesive system.

  • Bridge the sim-to-real gap by refining our code to ensure seamless transfer of grasping performance from simulation to physical robots.Provide your input on the hardware that needs to installed to provide optimal results.

  • Contribute to develop, with the robotics team, a production robotics system deployed in the field at the customer sites, working across the full stack.

Who you are:

  • Extensive and demonstrable experience in developing robotic grasping techniques ****for robotic manipulators

  • Experience developing production-level code deployed in the field following an established software development lifecycle

  • Knowledgable of the latest techniques in state-of-the-art robotic grasping.

  • Excellent software development skills in python and in implementing object oriented code

  • Demonstrable experience using state of the art software development tools and practices (eg Git, code reviews etc)

  • Master’s degree in robotics or similar field or equivalent work experience

  • A production-oriented, pragmatic mindset focused on delivering reliable, high-quality systems and shipping solutions efficiently

  • Readiness to participate in on-site bring-up or troubleshooting when required, keen to collaborate with deploy and operational support specialists to ensure system stability

  • Collaborative team player, comfortable to work remotely and proactive communicator.

  • Based in one of the three European time zones (West, Central or Eastern European) and able to travel in the Schengen area (eg holder of Schengen VISA, British, Swiss or Norwegian national, etc.)

Bonus points:

  • PhD in Robotics, Robotic Grasping or Manipulation or a similar topic

  • Knowledgable of the latest deep learning grasping techniques for robotics

  • Experience working in ROS2 or similar robotics frameworks

  • Experience in Nvidia Omniverse and/or Isaac Sim.

  • Knowledgeable of docker

Why Sunrise Robotics?

  • Play a pivotal role in defining the future of intelligent robotics and manufacturing.

  • Be part of a company that is at the forefront of technological innovation, with a clear mission and vision.

  • Competitive compensation, including equity, and a flexible work environment that values innovation, learning, and excellence.
