Our Mission:
At Sunrise Robotics, we are dedicated to augmenting humanity through intelligent robotics. Our mission is to elevate the world of manufacturing by introducing intelligent, flexible robots that enhance human capabilities and existing machinery, ushering in the next era of production at higher quality, with less waste, and lower cost.
Our Vision:
We see a future where every element of manufacturing, from design to assembly, is optimised with intelligent automation. Our vision is to integrate flexible robotic solutions, based on generic hardware and advanced software/AI capabilities, into manufacturing, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises, to make automation economically viable and accessible, for all sizes of manufacturers. We are not just building robots; we are creating the strategically crucial components for autonomous, intelligent agents of the future.
The Role:
As a Senior Robotics Control Engineer you have a key role in the architecture and design of the robot motion control and planning system. You will be directing and executing the implementation of advanced motion control and planning algorithms and the overall architecture that would make the system scalable and able to support the future needs of our clients.
Your work will have a direct impact on robots deployed in the field developing one of the key components of Sunrise’s robotic systems. You will contribute directly to our production systems leaving a true mark on real world applications of our technology.
What you will do:
Perform research and development in the following areas:
Design and direct the implementation of the robot control and trajectory planning system.
Develop robot control and trajectory planning algorithms, selecting the right approach to support advanced robot control in the short and longer term.
Sim2Real: Reduce the simulation-to-reality gap developing motion planning and control solutions that can be run in simulation and on the real robot.
Provide your input on the hardware that needs to be installed to provide optimal results.
Contribute to develop, with the robotics team, a production robotics system deployed in the field at the customer sites, working across the full stack.
Work with the engineering teams to collaboratively transform research insights and latest developments into practical, deployable solutions.
Who you are:
Extensive and demonstrable experience in developing trajectory planning for robotic manipulators
Demonstrable experience is architecting complex object oriented software systems which run on the physical hardware
Experience developing production-level code deployed in the field following an established software development lifecycle
Excellent software development skills in python
Knowledgeable about trajectory planning and path planning algorithms for robotic manipulators
Demonstrable experience using state of the art software development tools and practices (eg Git, code reviews etc)
Master’s degree in robotics or similar field or equivalent work experience
Readiness to participate in on-site bring-up or troubleshooting when required, keen to collaborate with deploy and operational support specialists to ensure system stability
Collaborative team player, comfortable to work remotely and proactive communicator.
Based in one of the three European time zones (West, Central or Eastern European) and able to travel in the Schengen area (eg holder of Schengen VISA, British, Swiss or Norwegian national, etc.)
Bonus points:
Experience in developing low level robot control algorithms (eg compliant control)
PhD in Robotics, Robot control, trajectory planning or a similar topic
Extensive experience working in ROS2
Knowledgeable of Moveit / ROSControl frameworks
Knowledgeable of docker
