Position Summary

HackerOne is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the discovery, architecture, and development of high-performance, scalable data products and solutions. Joining our growing, distributed organization, you'll be instrumental in building the foundation that powers HackerOne's enterprise transformation from human-powered operations to data-driven, AI-powered, and human-led agentic operations.

Enterprise Data & AI Mission

Enterprise Data & AI provides the data and systems to enable our enterprise transformation from human-powered operations to data-driven, AI-powered, and human-led agentic operations. This data and systems infrastructure includes autonomous AI agents handling routine or repeatable work and centralized AI and data infrastructure for cross-org leverage.

What You Will Do

Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of scalable, secure, and intelligent data products and solutions that support HackerOne’s transformation into an AI-first organization.
Partner across business and engineering teams to identify high-leverage opportunities for automation, integration, and system modernization.
Drive the architecture and execution of platform-level capabilities, leveraging AI and modern tooling to reduce manual effort, improve decision-making, and increase system resilience.
Provide technical leadership to internal engineers and external development partners, ensuring design quality, operational excellence, and long-term maintainability.
Shape and contribute to our incident and on-call response strategy, playbooks, and processes, focusing on building systems that fail gracefully and recover quickly.
Act as a multiplier to mentor other engineers, advocate for technical excellence, and promote a culture of innovation, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
Champion effective change management and enablement, ensuring systems are not only launched, but adopted, understood, and evolved.

Minimum Qualifications

6+ years of experience in a Data, Engineering, Science, or similar role w/ proven track record of leading the design, development, and deployment of AI-first data products and solutions (preferably using Python).
Extensive hands-on experience building and optimizing data pipelines, products, and solutions.
Strong SQL for data manipulation and programming skills.
Knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
Extensive experience working with various data technologies and tools such as Airflow, Snowflake, Meltano, Fivetran, DBT, Looker, and AWS.
Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi
Proven track record of successfully championing new initiatives focused on architectural enhancements.
Proven track record of having substantial impact across the company, demonstrating your ability to drive positive change and achieve significant results.
Passion for working backwards from the Customer and empathy for business stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills, and can present data-driven narratives in verbal, presentation, and written formats.

Preferred Qualifications

Proven track record of driving innovation, adopting emerging technologies, and implementing industry best practices.
Experience building and managing a cloud deployed data lake
Experience working with Kubernetes.
Experience working with Agile and iterative development processes.
Understanding of network architecture.
