We’re looking for a Backend-Focused Full Stack Software Engineer to join the team! We need someone who excels at developing and optimizing backend services, can collaborate with team members to refactor code, debug issues, and support a production environment actively used by customers. Your primary focus will be on enhancing our backend capabilities while also supporting our existing platform and contributing to the frontend as needed. In this role, you'll support core product functions by designing and implementing scalable backend functionality, optimizing data structures, and refactoring business logic to improve performance and meet future needs. You’ll work closely with customers and our product and machine learning teams to create powerful tools that enable users to craft AI-powered conversations for callers. Our stack includes Python, TypeScript, Node.js, and React in Kubernetes on GCP.
What You’ll Do
- Build new features powering millions of daily conversations on Replicant’s core AI voice and chat products, focusing on scalable, reliable backend services and infrastructure 
- Refractor, optimize, and debug production systems balancing latency, cost, and user delight 
- Continuously improve systems based on performance metrics and customer feedback 
- Thoughtfully review code and architecture to maintain quality and mentor peers 
- Champion best practices and design patterns, shaping a fast-moving culture focused on engineering excellence 
- Participate in regular on-call rotations, monitoring live production systems and quickly resolving issues 
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of backend software engineering experience in a SaaS environment 
- Proven experience owning and shipping elegant, maintainable, continuously improving solutions that scale to millions of users 
- History of raising the bar for great engineering in your teams, with strong collaboration skills favoring impact over process 
- Strong communication skills that build trust with teammates and stakeholders 
- Mastery of AI tools for writing, improving, debugging, and refactoring large code bases 
- Mastery of Node.Js or Python deployed on a cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) 
- Expertise in one or more of the following: - Relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, and ORM tools such as TypeORM or Sequelize 
- Data engineering 
- CI/CD 
- LLM prompt engineering, integration of AI technology in production systems 
 
- Enthusiasm for AI, machine learning, or telephony
