The right candidate brings hands-on experience creating reliable detections, automating repetitive tasks, and turning investigation findings into durable improvements to our security program, with an interest in exploring AI-driven automation. Responsibilities Create and optimize detections, playbooks, and workflows to quickly identify and respond to potential incidents. Investigate security events and participate in incident response, including on-call responsibilities. Automate investigation and response workflows to reduce time to detect and remediate incidents. Build and maintain detection and response capabilities as code, applying modern software engineering rigor. Explore and apply emerging approaches, potentially leveraging AI, to strengthen our security posture. Document investigation and response procedures as clear runbooks for triage, escalation, and containment. Skills And Qualifications 3–5 years of experience in detection engineering, incident response, or security engineering. Strong proficiency in Python and query languages such as SQL, with the ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code. Practical knowledge of detection and response across cloud, identity, and endpoint environments. Familiarity with attacker behaviors and the ability to translate them into durable detection logic. Strong fundamentals in operating systems, networking, and log analysis. Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to create clear documentation. In this role, you will work on enabling, characterizing and optimizing the performance of Java workloads running on Tenstorrent hardware platforms. You will dive deep into the JVM internal, including JIT compilation, garbage collection and synchronization mechanisms, and apply advanced profiling and tuning techniques to improve performance across a variety of key Java workloads. This role is remote , based out of North America. We welcome candidates at various experience levels for this role. During the interview process, candidates will be assessed for the appropriate level, and offers will align with that level, which may differ from the one in this posting.   Who You Are A hands-on performance optimizer with a passion for squeezing out every cycle. Equally comfortable diving into low-level assembly and high-level Java code. Curious about new architectures and how to push them to their limits. Collaborative and communicative, thriving in cross-functional engineering environments. Motivated by real-world impact—your optimizations translate into measurable wins.   What We Need Ph.D. (or equivalent experience) in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Deep understanding of JVM internals, interpreter, JIT, and GC algorithms. Strong skills in Java concurrency, threading models, and synchronization mechanisms. Hands-on experience with Java Vector API and SIMD optimization. Expertise in performance profiling/tuning with tools like perf, JFR, async-profiler, VisualVM, or YourKit. Proficiency in Java, Python, C/C++, and RISC-V assembly. Familiarity with SPECjbb and large-scale workloads (Spark, Hadoop, Cassandra).   What You Will Learn Performance trade-offs across Java workloads on RISC-V and other architectures. Advanced JVM optimization techniques from interpreter tuning to JIT compilation strategies. SIMD and vectorization best practices with the Java Vector API. Cross-functional workflows between compiler, architecture, and software performance teams. State-of-the-art Java performance analysis methods and tools.   Compensation for all engineers at Tenstorrent ranges from $100k - $500k including base and variable compensation targets.
